Little Woman's Creative Basket

I found this little type-case at fleamarket in December and thought it will be a nice project for January 2011. I decided to stitch the designs from Niky's Creations. This project became a mixture of designs from the Primitive Calendar and her booklet with Flowers.

The pieces had to be very small so I had to stitch all the designs at 36 and 40 count Zweigart natural linen and because the case is very dark I decided not to dye the linen with coffee.

This one is my favorite because of the colours and design. All the big pieces are about 9x9 cm and finished the way I liked using old buttons too.

The border are finished with buttenhole stitches. All the pieces were stitched with one thread over two except the strawberries.

These tiny ones are about 4.5x9 cm. Aren't they cute?

Long time ago I saw the first designs of Niky in the BBD book and later on I found some in the GOS and here they are, the strawberries. I hand-dyed some of the linen with coffee and tea and some with blueberries juice.

Today I have two exchangepieces to show. This one is from LK Winter wishes. I stitched it on lightblue linen using DMC threads and some beads. The pincushion travelled to USA and luckily it arrived safely at Katy's home.

This second beauty is from Marjorie. We met each other four times now with exchanges but I still don't get bored of her because I love her pieces. Isn't beautiful? The design is from Gazette 94 and filled with walnut shells, which is not available in Holland. So lucky me! Thanks Marjorie for everything! Shall we say: until next time again?

Evergreen

The first pieces of 2011, which I made for the contest of Niky's Creations. The freebie is called evergreen. I made two different pieces with this chart. When I see trees and a squirrel it's remind me of all the colours of the autumn.

So I chose for an autumn bag using coffee-dyed 32 count Zweigart linen and hand-dyed threads of my choice. The model of the bag is a little bit like the end of an acorn and finished with felt.

I finished the second pieces rather tradional using DMC thread. It was fun doing these pieces although I didn't win any prizes.

New Year brings new challenges

Happy New Year to you all. May 2011 brings you happiness and creative challenges. This year I decide to make more times for myself to stitch bigger pieces, to sew more and to make more quiltingspieces. So I will not participate in too many exchanges although it's always fun to join a group of stitchers.

Will this year be a Primitive Year? Look at these beautiful charts, which I got as Christmas gifts. Aren't they lovely?

The last pieces of 2010

The last days of the year. We never have so much snow as last weeks. The world is white and it will be a White Christmas since years.

Of course our tree is decorated with balls and ornies with memories. Some angels from Germany, little gifts from friends, the first santa's, which my son choose 23 years ago. I love to see the tree this way.

And this year for the first time is my goose made from Tilda design. Isn't cute?

We baked a lot of cookies and cooked nice meals, the smell of this trio is all around us. I have finished the LHN gingerbreads like this because when the other seasons come I can change the front. I love how it tuns out although we don't have time to hang it up.

My exchange piece for our private SWAP. It took a month before it arrived at Angela's home. Such a relief. The postmen were striking over and over again so I was so glad that it arrived in time. Luckily Angela loves the ornie. The design is from Brittercup.

Not only Angela has to wait so long for her ornie. Ela has also to wait for her ornie and can you imagine that France is so nearby.

I finished the red one is a little bag.

Dash away from the Sampler girl.

Another two pieces from the Sampler girl. The design was published in the Gift of Stitching. The ornie on the right is for my friend Rebecca. I also made an ornie for my friend Barbara but I think it wouldn't reach her before Christmas. So I cann't show it yet.

It's really nice to use the little bag this way. Just fill it with something Chrimassy.

The last ornie is a design from Lizzie Kate. I love this one. Look at the little bells!

Christmasbox and BBD piece.

Last week we got a lot of snow as you can see so it was good time for stitching. I finished my Christmas candy box from Country Cottage Needleworks design: Peppermint Lane. We love peppermint candies. Nowdays it's easy to buy them. So no Christmas without candycans. I stitched the design on 32 count Zweigart linen and finished it on the top of the box. Really happy with how it turns out.

These two tiny beauties came from my BBD exchangepartner Christina. The left one is from the design Autumn Stars, JCS halloween issue 2009. The scissorsfob is taken from Strawberry Garden, LF 18. Both are beaded around. Aren't they beautiful? I like them so thank you so much, Christina.

Look at this cute freebie from Paulette Stewart of the Plumstreet Samplers. I stitched it on Zweigart vintage orange. Change some of the colours and finished it on the top of a box.

The pictures don't do any justice because the weather is nowdays awful. No sunshines to find.

I want to show you my Fall and Halloween pieces. I love pumpkins so I take part of the Great Pumpkins Challenge of Becky SC. Mostly we don't celebrate Halloween but this year the children of our neighbourhood came knocking at the door.

I put a branch in a big vase and decorate it with my pieces. I also but the Christmas tree lights it. And of course there was also a big bowl with candy's
Here comes my pieces.

This one is a freebie from Gazette. I think it's a challenge to use so much different fabric for the pieces. I chose my own colours, using Threadworx, Carrie thread and DMC varitions.

Alwasy love the designs of Brittercup. Look at these cute kittens! The fabric is lambswool.

This is a part of LK chart, stitched on 32 count light blue linen.

Blessed be is a freebie from Plum Pudding needleart stitched on 32 count Mocha linen.

Pumpkinflower is a freebie from Full Circle Designs. I change some colours.

An autumn freebie from San-man originals

For this piece I did use the recommended threads. The orange is from Threadworx and DMC varitions. For the bat I blended two different DMC colours together because I think it's more scarry than only using black.

The last 2 pieces are from Waxing Moon, Halloween tree and Autumn minis. I enjoyed stitching all the pieces and also made some pins because is really hard to find some Halloween decoration here. OOPS, I forget some pieces, I keep them in mind for the next time.

Today it's an awful weather here, wind and rain but I made a Happy Dance because it's raining gifts from my exchangepartners.

I get a beautiful box from Lisa (V) all the way from Australia. She stitched the design from French designer Danybrod on 28 count Silkweaver linen "Raphsody". The design is called Rond Fleuri and finished it on the top of a box.

And look at this side. A tiny, cute charm is added to the ribbon. This is my first exchangebox and I love it, it's really gorgeous! Thanks so much, Lisa for this private exchange. You have done a great job for me.

No, no, it's not enough. Here is the Seasonal exchangepiece from Lisa (S). She stitched a design from my favo designer Prairie Schooler. It's from the Acorns book and stitched on 32 count Lambswool with DMC threads. I don't have this design so it's a surprise for me. Isn't gorgeous too?

And look at the backside. The fabric fits so well.

The last one is from the LK exchange. A cute, little cushion from Finland. I love to thank my partner , but don't know, who is making such a beautiful cushion for me. Anyway thanks partner for this gift, I love it.

Hi everyone, I'm back again. Dealing with healthproblems in my family I wasn't in the mood for blogging. In spite of everything I still stitched and want to share some pieces with you. So I hope to see you soon because I really appreciated your sweet comments.

A PS ornie was for the Christmas SWAP. It went to Lisa D. She loves snowmen and on the back I add a text in Dutch, which means Joyful Christmas. It would remind her that this one is coming from Holland.

A birthaday gift for my daughter. Now you know what she likes. The design is from Brittercup stitched on 36 count Zweigart linen

For the back I used a ribbon, which I bought in Paris. Joyeux Anniversaire, which means Happy birtday.

A gift for a friend, which has the courage to keep on learning the Dutch language. Design is from LK flip-it August. I change some of the colours.

At last a beautiful cushion I received from Jennifer for the round 5 BBD exchange. This lovely design is from the book Tokens of frienship.

BDD Loose Feathers 2009/2010

A few weeks ago I thought it's time to stitch all the BBD Loose Feathers. So at first I finished the one, which I started at the end of 2009. It's berry time (nr. 37). The design and colours are beautiful.

During my short trip in Drenthe I finished Summer basket sampler. I wasn't very happy about the colour of the linen. So I changed it into Zweigart 32 count linen colour 222. It turned out nicely I think. The colours are so soft on the linen that could be a French design.

Then it's time for Peacock pinkeep. I love this one very much although I have to find time to make the finishes.

This part is for the needlebook.

Look at this Winterwonderland. It was such a joy to stitch it but it's a lot of stitching. So now I have only to finish LF 36 called the Simple things and the last one Hedgerow birds. At this moment I really don't know which finishes I want to chose so I hope to find some times in the winter to sew or to frame all the pieces.

This is the middle part of the Summer basket. I finished it into a pincushion for Christina, my exchangepartner. I took me a lot of time to sew the lace. My partner wrote me that she loved it.

This is the last SWAP ornament, which I received from Lisa D. The design is from JCS 2003. The snowman looks really cute isn't? I also love the card and the notebook.

This is my Seasonal exchangepiece for my partner April. Design is from Sam Sarah Designs Studio stitched on 28 count linen. It's called Doubles-Summer Bluebird.

April is also my partner in LK exchange. Luckily April doesn't mind that she gets two pieces from me. Unfortunately I delete the picture of the LK piece. So maybe you can see it on April's blog one day.

This month is my time to get the Christmas ornies from my SWAP exchange friends. This one is from Lisa V. She stitched CHS design for me. So thoughtfull knowing that I love the charts of this designer. It's lovely isn't?

Wow, look at this lovely ornie from Lori. It's a design from PS Santa's and snowmen. Stitched on Jobelan with DMC threads with Kreinik blending filament for sparks. It's a pity that you cann't see the sparks!

I really feel spoiled with these wonderful gifts. The ornies are hanging all together in my livingroom. It feels like Christmas in July.

Fast as always I have already received the summer exchange piece from Angela. Look at this gorgeous flatfold! This is my first one.

Thoughtfull as she is, she stitched bunnies for me. And how can she knows that I'm very fond of strawberries? The design is from LHN strawberries. Stitched on 28 count Autumn fields lugana

using CC and DMC 321.

Even the backside is lovely. The fabric fits so well. I love love this piece very much!

When you think that's all I get? Another lovely SWAP Christmas piece from Angela. The design is from LHN Woodland snowfall. If you click on the picture you can see the cute little beads she used.

June is a really busy months for us. We celebrate 3 birthdays in our family. Today is our son's birthday. On monday the 14th ( my birthday) I'm going for a short vacation to Drenthe. Our daughter's birthday is on the 16th of June so we celebrate our birthdays together on the 19th of June.

This is my Holiday Summer exchange piece for Myra. The design is from La-D-Da called Daisy, Daisy. I decide not to stitch this piece on tea dyed fabric but on soft pink fabric. I also change some of the DMC colours. So happy that Myra loves it.

At last I finished my first quiltpiece. I'm very proud that it turns out quite nice.

Last week I received the Summer exchange piece from Ellen. The package made a long journey from Singapore to Holland. The design is from Dawn Thread called summer. I really love, love it! Look at the backing fabric. It fits so well.

She also spoiled me with some goodies. It felt like I have my birthday already. Thanks so much Ellen for this wonderful exchange!

On sunday the 30th of May we got a shower of hail. It's unbelievable that it can happen in May. The weather was awful from the beginning of the week until the end. It was cold with only 12 degrees in the morning.

It doesn't harm some of the plants. The snowball is going on with blooming.

A pinkeep for my sister's birthday. The design is from LK stitched on linen with DMC threads

I received this beautiful BBD round 4 piece from Rebecca. She was worried because it took a little bit longer before it arrived. It's a beauty isn't? All worhty to wait for. She also spoiled me with a medal, which I can hang on a chain or to use it as scissorfob.

The backside has a place for a scissor. I shall treasure this lovely pincushion. Thanks Rebecca!

Coming home from Paris I got the summer flu. Becky cheers me up with this beautiful pincushion stitched from a freebie of Gloria Bee, called Spring Tulips. I love it, it's a little bit Holland don't you think? Thanks so much, Becky!

This the piece, which I sent to Joanie for the BBD exchange round4. I stitched this piece from BBD book Honeysuckle Manor, the stitcher's companion using Tentakulum Painter's thread Matisse.

Maybe you do remember my birdhouse, which you saw here before. This is the second one, which I used for the Seasonal exchange.

Marjorie received it and luckily she loves it. The design is from a part of PS chart Birdsong 2, using the recommended threads.

Happy Mother's day

Mother's day surprise. My daughter's took me to the tearoom Leonidas in Delft to have a hightea.

The food looked great and tasted well. It was very special to me because my food was gluten-free. We also had Yasmin tea, peppermint tea and green tea. It was delicous!! Thanks girls for

this surprise.

The peonies in the front garden are blooming again. Look at the colour!

More peonies. Last saturday the postman brought me a big package from France.

My son ordered a cross-stitch book for me. It's all about peonie's from the painter and designer Marie-Therese Saint-Aubain. Maybe you also know her first book, which is called Chat (cat).

I love these beautiful charts. Isn't a great gift for the Mother's day? Thanks son!

Garden and birdhouse

We enjoy the sunny days for nearly two weeks now. The blossoms are blooming every where. Last sunday we went for a ride on our motorcycle along the bulbsroute in the direction of de Keukenhof. It was beautiful to see all kind of flowers and all kind of colours. Unfortunately I did take my camera with me so you have to do with some pictures from my garden. I really love this time of the year.

I stitched 3 exchangepieces, which I cann't show you. The last few years the blackbirds are nesting in our hedge. So I decided to stitch one of the Prairie Birds from PS. Inspired by the next coming Queensday I decided to finish it in a birdhouse with a lot of orange. If you look carefully you can see that I used the sunflowers seed for the hanging.

Little cups of friendship

Sunny days, time to meet friends. Last week my friend Wies visited me. Time for tea, because we both are tea lovers.

I stitched a little gift for her using LK chart little cups of friendship. The box was filled with all kinds of tea. I also bought her some natural green tea and lychee tea. In the middle of the box you can see some tea balls, which become tea flowers when you put them in hot water. The flavor is Jasmine.

A few things

Last week we got a lot of sunshine so it's was time to do some work in the garden. Such a joy to see my Helleborus collection and other plants blooming after the winter.

This winter Jasmine was a slip from my friend.

My daughter went to Paris and brought me 3 cross-stitch magazines and some laces. I have been collecting the x-stitch magazines from the whole world for a while. When I'm on holiday I always try to find some.

The postman brought this cute, little piece from Hungary. Lilang send to me for the LK exchange. She was so fast that it arrived in time before Easter. Isn't great?

I stitched this rooster for Sharlotte. She was my partner in Easter exchange. I saw on her wishlist, that she like this LHN chart. It's stitched on Zweigart 32 count linen using DMC threads. I changed the colours of some of the flowers.

It was such a great weather on Saturday so we took a walk in Delftse Hout. After that we had a great dinner at Cafe du Midi.

I visited my daughter. She is also a bunny lover. This is Noppie, isn't cute? She bought "her" as a female bunny but after seven months she discovered that he is a male.

And here are her Siberian kittens. Aren't they lovely?

Look at this.................. received from my partner in Easter Exchange.

I'm so touched that Myra made this bunny biscornu especially for me. She read my blog and knew that I love my little Pluis very much. So she stitched this gorgeous biscornu for me. Look at the colour of the little bunnies, it looks similar to Pluis' coat.

I love this little biscornu!!!! Thanks Myra, I will treasure it.

There is also a bag, sewed by Myra. It looks so neatly and there are two charms at the end of the zipper.

Backside.

Last but not least there is also a recipe of carrot cake, an Easter card, needles, chocolates, a notebook for shopping lists with magnets, fabric for quilting and buttons. I especially love the cute buttons. So happy to get them because it's really hard to find them here.

How can I ever thank you, Myra for these generous gifts? So from the bottom of my heart: thanks and thanks again for this wonderful exchange!!! I love all of my gifts.

Spring in the air

Last few days we have a lot of sunshines. It looks like spring in coming soon. Look at the first springflowers and Helleborus buds.

They are tiny but they cheer you up after seeing snow for months.

Always happy to see the Helleborus blooming every year. Love this purple one very much.

Although I'm very busy with stitching the 5 exchangepieces I want to be sure to stitch some charts from Spring and Easter. Here is the first one from PS book no. 107, Just Hatched. Stitched on 32 count Zweigart vintage linen.

Handwerkbeurs Zwolle

Last friday we went to the craftmarket in Zwolle. A lot of people had the same idea so it was really busy there. I bought some linen, a chart of LK, book from Tilda, Chinese silks, ribbons, buttons and some fabric for my quilt.

This BBD heart was stitched on 36 count Zweigart linen. I changed the CC colours and finished with lace. The chart is from BBD book Joyeux Noel. This is the exchange piece for my partner, which I shipped out on the 21th of January. Where is my heart????? I haven't heard anything from my partner or seen the picture on the BBD Exchange blog.

Quiltinglessons

Here are some impressions of my quilting. The needlebook and the square were made from silk. I bought these scissors from Yuko in Japan. Both quilting pieces were made from paper-piecing method. Theme of this lesson: Crazy. It was such a fun to make something from scraps.

Ready for the Easter? Chickens? This one was made from 2 Log Cabin blocks. You had to sew them together.

The last one is also made from paper-piecing method. Just don't know yet which finish I'm going to use.

Guess what happened? Marjorie and I take part of the BBD exchange as well as LHN. I got the beautiful BBD box from her and I surprised her with a this pincushion of Gourmet Garden from LHN.
Luckily she likes this pincushion. It's stitched on Zweigart linen vintage green, 32 count using the recommended threads. I also put some lavender in the pincushion can you smell it:)

Ornament SWAP

This is the SWAP ornament exchangepiece for Sharon. She is a really catlover so I chose two designs to stitch. The frontside has the PS Prairie Christmas. I changed the colours of the threads. Add some beads and a jinglebell.

The backside has a design from Brittercup and her initials. Both sides are stitched on 32 count Zweigart green linen. It's such a fun to have this private Christmas exchange. Can you imagine stitching the Christmaspieces during the whole year ? When Christmas arrives each member has 5 ornies from different people to put in the tree. Great idea from Angela isn't?

Last weeks I have been stitching the 4 exchangepieces. This one is for Elisa. It's a LK chart from february, stitched on Zweigart linen. I painted the wooden heart in purple to let it fits with
the stitching design. The package arrives very fast in England. Glad that Elisa likes her exchangepiece.

Valentine is coming and it's really nice to see so many hearts on the blogs. This is an old one, which I made as a goodbye gift for Barbara. The free chart is from the Sampler girl. I have only changed the colours. It's stitched on hand-dyed linen (by myself) using Madeira silk.

Today the postman brought me a package from USA. I opened it with a big smile on my face. Have you ever seen such a gorgeous box? I'm so happy to receive a box because I love boxes. Marjorie made it for me.

She stitched the Summer Iris on hand-dyed linen using buttons to finish it. Even the inside of the box looks great. A lovely finish!!! Thank you so much, Marjorie!!!

A basket with Christmas gifts for my family.

Here is the basket with the little pincushions, which I stitched as gifts for me and my family.

This little angel in the clouds is from Heart in Hand. It's stitched on 36 count linen using the recommended threads except her dress. I used Raspberry parfait instead of Antique Rose because I think the coulour fits better with the linen.

These two pincushions are for my daughter and son in law because they got their two kittens before Christmas. Because the kittens are white I change the colour of the cats in white. This one is stitched with DMC threads using some beads and button. The chart was pusblished in JCS ornaments 2009

This cat is stitched with Whisper. For both works I used 36 count Zweigart linen. The charts are from Brittercup Designs.

Look at this cute chart from Angel Stitchin called Santa's Buddie from JCS ornaments 2009.

Stitched on Zweigart linen using GA Wool, Crescent Colour and DMC with some beads and button.

Diane Williams designs this chart especially for Unicef project. The money is being used to provide clean drinking water to 300 children in West Africa. The cushion is stitched on 36 count Zweigart linen using the recommended threads.

I made this little pincushion for myself. The chart is from Stone and Thread. It's stitched on 32 count hand-dyed linen using the recommanded threads except for the star. It's stitched with metallic golden thread from Vaupel en Heilenbeck.

I send this ornie to my friend. She has already received it so I can show you. The chart is from Country Cottage Needleworks called The Nutcracker. I have only stitched a part of it on 36 count Edinburgh linen using DMC threads and some beads in the tree. It's cute isn't it?

Last month of the year and it's snowing outside again . The garden becomes a white world and I love it.

No where to go than to sit down and to do some stitching. I have stitched 7 little cushions for my family but cann't show you except this one. I use my quiltlesson, which is called paper-piecing technique and combine it with the stitchingpiece. The design is stitched on 32 count Zweigart vintage linen using DMC variations. The chart is from the French book: Rouge.

A gift for my son

When I saw this BBD chart of Eiffel tower I know for sure that I'm going to stitch it for my son. The first time he went for a week to Paris with his class-mates. In spite of the language, which is difficult he had a time of his life. The weather was good and yes Paris est tres magnifique. In 2006 he went for exchange to Sweden. He lived there for six months. During his stays he travelled to a lots of capitals but none of them was as beautiful as Paris he said.

From Sweden he went with his exchangefriends to Paris to celebrate the newyears eve at the foot of the Eiffel tower. It's wonderful to see all the cultures together peaceful celebrating 2009.

The design is stitched on Zweigart 36 count linen using GA Blueberry. If you enlarge the picture you can also see the beads, which I used in the stars.

The autumn arrives with fantastic colours and berries. Taking care of my family, some of whom are ill so there is only a little bit time to stitch so forgive me for not blogging.

Still stitching for the exchanges and Christmas orni's. I shipped out the LK exchange piece but can't show you yet.

This one is for LHN exchange and it already arrived. So look at Holly and Berries. I was a little bit early with sending it to my partner because I don't want it to get lost during the busy Christmas time. The design is stitched on Zweigart Vintage brown and using the recommended DMC colours. If you make the picture larger then you can see the beads I used instead of the cross-stitches. So glad my partner likes it.

And of course I go to my Stitcherie and quilting lessons. Here Patti, this is my first quilt. I have made this twice (9 patch) so I have to make twice eight patches too. I chose stitcherie too because I want to combine it with quilting. This is my first basket, still two to go.

My daughter and I went to the Handwerkbeurs in Rotterdam. We did not have much time but I'm so happy to have found the new chartbook of BBD. The charts looks great although there is one mistake at page 15. Look at the third chart, it's the same as the second one. I wrote Alma and she was very fast with the correction. BBD piece for Peg

This is the bag, which I made for Peg (BBD round 2). I brought the bag from Budapest and had backed it in coffee and tea to get the old looking and to let it fits with the design piece. The design is from BBD LF 35 using Zweigart vintage brown linen, GA Raspberry Parfait and House of Embroidery threads. Inspired by my staying in China, where I have seen richly decorated pea cocks, I used some beads in the feathers of the bird. The beads are very tiny so you have to make the picture larger to see them.

Souvenirs from Budapest

Near the hotel there was a shopping mall where I found marzipan, frames, cross-stitch magazine, threads, bags and beautiful ribbons.

There was also a hobby shop with a lot of different boxes. I wished, that I could take some boxes with me but we did not have space in our suitcases. So I decided to take this one with me. Isn't a beauty?

Budapest

Two weeks ago we went for six day to Budapest. These colourful birds were hanging in the hall of the airport.

We visited the Parliament building. It was really hard to get tickets, which allowed you to see the inside of the building.

LHN alphabet rhyme

When I saw this cute chart of LHN I knew that I'm going to stitch it. Who doesn't know this rhyme? I remember singing it with my children when they were at the primary school. Of course we did it in Dutch. It sounds like this: abcdefg, hijklmnop, qrstuvw, xyz doen ook nog mee. Van abc tot xyz, dat zijn de letters van het alfabet.

Loosely translated:

Framed schoolgirl lessons

This chart of LHN reminds me of my schooltime. The girls and the boys were seperated and went to two different schools. We got craftlesson from a nun. Mostly we have got plain needlecraft. Nowdays the schools hardly have professional teacher for needlecraft because of retrenchment. What a pity!

This piece is stitched on Zweigart vintage linen, 32 count yellow. Using Gloriana silk Arnhem Health. I use bread-board as frame. I think it turns out nicely.

Sitting in the garden enjoying a cup of Jasmin tea, which I brought from China.

Finishing the schoolgirl lessons from LHN. Stitching on Zweigart vintage yellow using Gloriana silk Arnhem Health.

Watching little creatures, which are flying so fast that it's nearly impossible to catch them for a picture.

The butterflies and bumble bees are busy looking for nectar, flying from flower to flower of the Butterfly-bush or Summer lilac (vlinderstruik). What a wonderful day!

Hydrangea's

For a few weeks we had a lot of sunshines so you can see that all kind of hydrangea's are blooming. I think it's easy to take care of them. Sometimes they need a lot of waters. This is Annabelle standing in the frontgarden.

This one is the most difficult of all. It takes time to get it growing but I love the purple hearts with white flowers very much.

Even in the pot and in the shadow the hydrangea gives you beautiful flowers to enjoy.

Where can you find plants so easy as the hydrangea's? You can enjoy them for a long time and even in a vase they're gorgeous.

Today Barbara came with Arden to visit me. We did not stitch, we only had fun. Arden was so cute. We celebrated our belated birthdays a little bit. She brought me a gorgeous pincushion filled with lavender. She knows that I love blue colours and also French designers. She stitched a beautiful design from Marjorie Massey, using silk. Look at the bunnies, aren't the cute? I'm so happy with my gift.

For sure I knew that Barbara likes the charts of Kathy Barrick-Dieter so I chose this one, which is called Brite Birds. To give the design an old look I used the 32 count Zweigert vintage linen, colour brown and I changed the DMC threads into WDW and CC. I wanted to finish it like a Hornbook so I used a chalkboard for the background. Fortunately Barbara also liked her gift:)

Enjoy our garden

After a travel of 19 days, it was an overwhelming welcome home by our garden. The climbing red rose are hanging down until the ground with a lot of flowers. Every year it's a joy to see all the roses blooming on my birthday (14th of June) It's a wonderful gift of the nature. What to think about the smell of the honeysuckle when we have our meals outside? It's great to be home again although we have a wonderful and fantastic vacation.

A couple of months ago I sent my stitching to my friend R. She made me a beautiful travelling bag. It looks fantastic don't you think? I'm going to take it with me to China.

So this is my last post because I'm going on vacation for 19 days. We are going to visit the following cities: Shanghai, Suzhou, Yichang, Chongqing, Dazu, Emei Shan, Chengdu, Xi'an, Beijing. Every day there is more colours in the garden. The camellia blooms side by side with the rhododendron. What a colours! I admire them today when I'm going into the garden for making the pictures. During my vacation in Zweden I stitched these little pieces with the Blomstergarns from Haandarbejdets Fremme. The charts are from the designer Gerda Bengtsson. Today I decide to sew them as pincushions and fill them with a little bit lavender. Little gifts for my friends.

Springtime and Easter.

For me the springtime is the most wonderful time of the season. The garden is blooming and every day there is enough to enjoy. The last days the sun shines and there is some explosion of colours.

I used my time for gardening and shopping for our vacation. There was not so much time left for stitching, although I have finished the Easter Parade from BBD. It's stitched on Zweigart linen using the recommended threads.

Traveling stitcher.

I chose not to stitch some part of the charts like my initials, heart and year. I'm going to make a stitcher bag with a scissorfob, a floss tag and a needlebook. Fun on saturday

Last Saturday we went to Abbenbroek, near Rotterdam, to have a friendship day. It's always pleasure to have a workshop at Liezbeth's home (http://www.crownstitches.nl/). She surprised us with scones, cream, jam and a cup of tea or coffee and a lunch. For me it was a big surprise that my daughter made me some gluten free food. The quiche tasted delicious! Then we got a surprise package. It felt a little bit like we had our birthdays. The package contained threads, fabric and a chart. The chart is from Shakespeare's peddler and the threads from Gentle art limited edition. We didn’t complain, it’s a lovely kit! We did not stitch much as you can see, but we had a lot of fun together.

Finished bookshelf.

At het end of february I started with 4 different charts: The bookshelf, travelling stitcher, in the garden with Jane Austen and the 2nd part of the garden verses.
Three weeks ago I finished the bookshelf of Little House Needleworks, which is an ode to the female writers and poet. I could not find time to make a picture of this beautful piece, but here it is. For now I don't know which way of framing I like so it has to wait until after my vacation.

Little things...........

After a week with a lot of sunshines the weather has changed. It's awful weather today although the sun is shining, it rains and there is a lot of wind. Looking at the three little things I have, it makes me feel happy. At first the tulips which my friend brought me today. Then the cards of Lisi Martin, which I collect. A friend brought them from Sweden. Look a the little stitcher, isn't she cute! What is learnt early is learnt well ( in Dutch: jong geleerd, oud gedaan). We stitched at the workshop last saturday but at the end we always made a little thing. This funny little heart. Thanks friends for your little gifts!

One sunny day and look how the garden changes. The crocus are blooming and there is a lot of helleborus in the garden. I have all kind of helleborus with different colours but the most beautiful are the darkpurple ones. If you like to admire them you have to kneel down. Not it looks like the spring is coming soon.

Garden Pleasures

This chart of Little House Needleworks reminds me of the pleasures I always have in our garden. For about seven years our rabbit called Pluis was my companion. He liked the leaves, flowers and branches but most of all he liked hugging. So if you look well you can see our little rabbit on the left of my work. This piece is stitched on 28 count graziano linen green/ivory. Fibers: DMC and Crescent colours. I'm going to use this box for my garden photos.

Prairie fairie

This is one of the four fairies from Prairie Schooler. It is stitched on 28 count ivory Jobelan with DMC fibers. For the frame I mix up different paint to get the same colours as the fairie's cloth. For me it's a challenge to frame it different than usually. I also add some charms and a golden needle in the fairie's hand. Isn't she lovely this little stitching fairie?

Haandarbejdets Fremme

In the summer of 2007 we went for 31/2 weeks to Denmark and Sweden.
I collected the Haandarbejdets Fremme Calendars for a couple of years. So now I got the chance to find the missing years in Denmark. One a sunny day we went to Kopenhagen to find the shop. What a disappointment!
My husband wanted to give me a second chance so after a few days we tried to find the second address.
However the small village, called Loejtveld couldn't be found on our map. I tried to call to the shop but it did not work.
At the gas station I met a woman, who knew the shop and she was really nice so she called the shop for me and told me how to find the shop. It was a long drive to Svendborg so we combined our trip.
At first we visited the castle called Egeskov at Kvaerndrup and then the Fremme shop.
The shop was a kind of a farm, small but with a huge collection of Fremme. I bought the complete set of Blomstergarns (102 colours). There was also an exposition of the Fremme designer Edith Hansen.
During my vacation I have stitched the roses from the calendar, which I bought there. One chart was used for the ring cushion of my daughter's wedding.

Stitching the bookshelf from the Little House Needleworks brings back some memories of my school time. Reading Wuthering Heights, the secret garden and sense and sensibility. I saw Little Women on television last Sunday by accident. For this piece I use Cashel linen, light mocha and DMC fibers. The golden thread is from Vaupel and Heilenbeck. It's recommended to use DMC metallic but I know that it's easier using V&P with a bigger needle.

French country bunny

I made this pincushion for my daughter R. to thank her for the lovely day in Zwolle. She collects rabbits that's why I chose the French country bunny chart from JBW designs. It's filled with lavender. It's a pity you can't smell it through your computer:)

Yesterday we went by train to the Craftfair in Zwolle. It's is a big fair for here in Holland. You can find the most importent craftshops here so a lot of needleworkers visite the fair during the three days. I found what I looked for: linen and linen. It's always a challenge to do some experiment with different linnen. Look at the French linen I bought from Au Lin d'ACB (www. lin-acb.com ) What a colours! Aren't they beautiful? I'm very satisfied with all my goodies:)

Winter Wonderland

Hurray at last finished! I have stitched this piece from Little House Needleworks a few months ago but couldn't finished it because of the French Knots, which are used as eyes of the snowman . I have taught myself by an instruction video online. It's still winter here so I'm still in time:)

Quilt fair

Last saturday I went with my friend to the Quilt fair. There was an exposition of the quilters so I take some pictures of their works to give you an impression. There was even quilted bra's as you can see. I'm not a quilter but de Handwerkboetiek was also there. Look at all the goodies I bought. I'm very pleased with the two new charts from Little House Needleworks and Blue Ribbon. What do you think about the colours of the satin from Hungary? They are beautiful although the photo can not show you the details.

Petits points et toile de lin

The weather is awful today. It's raining the whole day so I go on with making plans. Another beautiful French cross-stitch book is from Marjorie Massey. This book has 144 pages and the objects are divide in: messages, kitchen, alphabet and monograph. The descriptions are short and clear. Using the following colours: DMC 791, 797, 3838, 498,150,600, 3865,822,451

For each work you can choose one of this colours. I think it's also beautiful to use silk or hand-dyed fibers. I choose the butterflies to stitch using 3865. In one word: c'est livre est très magnifique but not easy to find here.

New plans

A cloudy day, a cup of tea, it's time for reading and making some new plans. Introducing you:

Amities Croisees by French designer Isabelle Vaultier and Italian Renato Parolin. The two designers are working together and put their both designs in this book. 79 pages full of various patterns using one or two colours for each works like DMC 815, Pomme de Pin etc.

I decide to choose for this beautiful blue design. I think it's easy to take this work with me on my vacation in May.

It was such a pleasure stitching this piece of Little House Needleworks. It feels like I'm on vacation in Italy. Imagine: sitting in the sun with pasta and a glass of wine, while the nature is blooming. What more do I wish?

Gourmet garden

For this work I use the Zweigart Vintage linen, color light green/white.
I have never used it before so it’s was exciting but also a little bit scary to see how the colours would fit to the background.
After all I’m very content with the results although the work is not finished yet.

Garden verses

This is the finished first part of the Garden Verses by Prairie Schooler. I like her chart very much because of the design and colors. This chart was not for sale in Holland so I stayed awake
until the middle of the night to win the auction. Isn't she lovely?

I'm very fond of French designers so I bought in november a chart from Mon ami Pierre.

The seller send me the chart on the first of december. I did not receive it but what a miracle this week this chart arrives after two months.

This Pinkeep is a gift that I made for my friend R. as our Christmas Exchange. The pattern is from Country Cottage Needlework. This was my first Pinkeep.
